A Soft Answer Turns Away Anger

A soft answer turns away wrath, But a harsh word stirs up anger. The tongue of the wise uses knowledge rightly, But the mouth of fools pours forth foolishness.” Proverbs 15:1-2 NKJV

A soft answer turns away anger. It is in our nature to respond to people or situations the way they appear to us. ⠀

If a person is furious, we are furious back. ⠀

If a person is calm, we too are calm. ⠀

However, in Christ, we need to learn how to "carry our own weather". ⠀

What does this mean? ⠀
It means that regardless of how someone is acting towards you, or how the situation you are in may be, you have made up your mind to be joyous, to respond calmly, and with peace in mind. It means you have the power to choose your mood or response. Many times relationships are destroyed due to the way we respond to people. ⠀

You never know who is attached to your destiny, so it is wise to react with a calm and soft answer. This does not make you a fool. Far from it. When you are humble and meek, you are strong. ⠀

Why? ⠀
This is true because you can discipline yourself in a way that does not allow others to determine your mood or mode of action.

Meekness is power under control. You may have the authority or every right to be angry and lash out, but because God has given you grace and mercy, you too extend His grace and mercy to others through your reaction. You never know who is watching you and who is learning from you.

Be an example. Yes, we all make mistakes, but we have hope that God can change and transform us into who He has called us to be. It takes one step at a time and a determination in your heart to be more Christ-like.

The Holy Spirit is there to help and guide us. Praise God for that!  ⠀

Until next time, God's blessings always.

Take care!
